In 1982 Hagler legally changed his name from "Marvin Nathaniel Hagler" to "Marvelous Marvin Hagler."

Hagler holds the distinction of having the highest KO percentage of all middleweight champions.

Hagler avenged his first two defeats by knocking out Monroe and Watts in rematches.

Inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1993.
