Mendy made his professional debut on December 22, 2000, when he beat countryman Guy Dia-Njoh on knock-out in the second round.
He is undefeated as a pro and has drawn with Anthony Hanshaw.
Mendy fought Sakio Bika on July 31 in Las Vegas, for an IBF #1 spot and a shot at the title. Bika lost the fight by disqualification in the 1st round after he knocked Mendy out with a punch following a knockdown and while Mendy was still on his knees.

Mendy represented France as a middleweight at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic games. He lost in the opening round to Sven Ottke of Germany, on a 11-4 decision.
