Making his debut in a U.S. ring, IBF welterweight champion Jan Zaveck (31-2, 18 KOs) was dethroned by former WBC champ Andre Berto (28-1, 21 KOs) by fifth round TKO on Saturday night at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. In a hard fight, Berto, who moving straight to another title shot after losing his WBC belt to Victor Ortiz, was victorious after Zaveck suffered a bad cut over the right eye in round five. The bout was stopped between rounds five and six because of the condition of Zaveck's eye.
