WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (44-0-1, 31 KOs) scored a 5th round TKO over Peter Manfredo Jr (37-7, 20 KOs) on Saturday night at in Houston, TX.

Given the level of opposition, it may have been Chavez's best performance.

On the FightSaga card, Chavez won Rounds 1-3 with Manfredo winning the fourth.

In Round 5, Manfredo was rocked by a hard right hand before the champion followed-up with a barrage of unanswered punches, forcing referee Laurence Cole to step in and stop it at 1:52.

After the fight, Chavez Jr. said he fears no one and will fight whoever his promoter says including Sergio Martinez and Canelo Alvarez.

Manfredo announced his retirement at the post-fight press conference.

This will be Chavez's first defense of his World Boxing Council title after his narrow, majority decision win over Sebastian Zbik in June.
