Former three-division world champion Johnny 'Mi Vida Loca' Tapia (59-5-2, 30 KOs) outpointed Colombian opponent Mauricio Pastrana over eight rounds. The victory was Tapia's third straight since returning from a three-year lay-off.
Tapia, 44, was the victim of a questionable knock down in the sixth, but rallied to floor Pastrana in the eighth. In all, it was an exciting bout and Tapia showed he's still a crowd-pleaser inside the ring.
The judges' were 77-73, 77-73 and 76-74.
The rumor is Tapia is looking to gain one final shot at a world title in the near future. The bout took place at lightweight, but Tapia could probably make the super-featherweight limit if he had to.
