Sturm vs Murray

Martin Murray 23-0-1 (10) pushed WBA Super World Middleweight champion Felix Sturm 36-2-2 (15) all the way tonight in the SAP Arena, Mannheim, to claim an honourable draw, Sturm retaining his title and Super Champion status in an absorbing contest.

The bout was scored 116-112, 113-115, 114-114, but there can be no sense of a robbery tonight. A very close fight was scored as such, with judge Jean-Francois Toupin from France liking the champion's work in the close rounds, judge Ted Gimza, USA, siding with the Brit and judge Pasquale Procopio from Canada unable to split the two.

Ask any casual boxing fan outside of the UK to name the 'Murray' fighting for a world title in December and you may struggle to get an answer.
