Davis vs Gamboa Results and Scoring
Davis (Won) TKO 12 Gamboa
Davis was ahead at the time of the stoppage: 109-98, 109-97, 108-98.

Showtime (Non PPV)
Gervonta “Tank” Davis (23-0, 22 KOs) scored a twelfth round KO over #2 Yuriorkis Gamboa (30-3, 18 KOs) on Saturday night at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
Tank looked for the early KO, starting fast en route to a 2nd Round knockdown. During the knockdown, Gamboa appeared to hurt his foot or ankle and his movement seemed subsequently impaired as a result. He certainly wasn't as light on his feet as we're accustomed to seeing nor could he generate tremendous leverage.
Davis landed some big shots throughout but Gamboa, despite a presumed injury, had a few moments of his own.
Gamboa, seemingly ahead in Round 8, was floored again in the stanza but refused to go quietly by hanging on and making Davis miss.
And finally, in Round 12 a tired Gamboa was felled once more by a check hook. The referee wisely halted the action immediately at 1:17.
Gamboa believes he sustained a ruptured Achilles tendon in Round 2 and plans to continue fighting.

Neither fighter is getting the praise he deserves. Gamboa fought valiantly with a ruptured Achilles tendon and showed a lot of heart and savvy. And Davis showed why he's arguably boxing's biggest young superstar by dominating his compromised foe and getting the KO instead of cruising to a safe decision win.
Gamboa's early injury, suffered in Round 2, certainly impacted the contest so I've graded two of the items above a "3."
Without the injury, I think this fight would have been closer and more more dramatic. Looking forward to Gamboa vs Leo Santa Cruz. Also, I'd still like to see a "healthy" Gamboa against another Top 10 lightweight.
