Adrien Broner: The key to Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather rematch?
Fight legend Roy Jones, Jr recently answered some questions about potential match-ups between Adrien Broner and Floyd Mayweather, and Manny Pacquiao vs Broner.
Jones told Luis Sandoval of FightHype it was imperative for Broner to call out Floyd last week because the purse, should Floyd accept, is too great not to.
And when someone asked his thoughts on a potential bout between Manny Pacquiao and Broner, Jones suggested a strong PacMan win over the young phenom would bolster Pacquiao's chances for a Floyd Mayweather rematch.
"Broner vs Pacquiao would sell," Roy Jones Jr told FightHype.
"That's smarter for Pacquiao, actually, because Broner is smaller."
"So if you want a prelude to fighting Floyd, go fight Broner first."
"He [ Adrien Broner ] makes good money. You [ Manny Pacquiao ] make good money."
"... And he's a smaller version of Floyd so it gets you ready for Floyd."
"If you can destroy Broner, .... now we all want you to fight Floyd."
"We think Floyd is going to come at yout harder because you beat his lil' bro..."
"And we think that by beating Broner, maybe you've helped yourself solve the 'Mayweather Mystery.'
Jones is talking about a 'Marcos Maidana' scenario, just on a higher level.
If Manny returned from his comeback and unleashed a whoopin' on Broner, Mayweather vs Pacquiao 2 would be big..
But how big?
Would public demand for a rematch be great enough to generate the revenue to lure Floyd out of retirement?
