Fans, writers, pundits and trainers offer insight about fighters and match-ups but no one can really break it down like a sparring partner who has actually been in the ring with those fighters. In November 2011, when Manny Pacquiao was still viewed by many as the top pound-for-pound fighter, Koncrete Jungle caught up with Jaime Kavanagh, then a sparring partner for Pacquiao and Amir Khan, and asked him to dissect what was, at the time, considered a mythical match-up.

Manny Pacquiao vs Amir Khan.

"Amir Khan would knock you out with like 6 or 7 punches... "

"But Manny can hit you with 3 or 4. Manny has a lot more power."

Kavanagh, in the attached video, stated Pacquiao punched harder and was more dangerous, all-around, but Khan was faster.

"Amir has a lot more speed than Manny Pacquiao," insisted Kavanagh.

A lot more speed... than Manny Pacquiao?

When asked for a prediction should such a fight take place, Kavanagh replied, "It would be a very interesting fight. I'd like to see it."

"Both guys are friends... same trainer, same camp, same gym."

"I don't think it's going to happen but you never know. Down the line, it could really happen."

Now that Khan is part of Virgil Hunter's stable, such a match-up isn't so mythical anymore. But what's most intruguing is the sparring partner's assertion about Khan's speed.

If Mayweather vs Khan is finalized for May, will Khan have a speed advantage over the soon-to-be 38 year old fight legend? If so, it will be interesting to see how Floyd copes.

Kavanagh currently campaigns as a lightweight and is 17-1-1, 8 KOs.
