In 2012, FightSaga told readers Gennady Golovkin was boxing's best kept secret and, three years later, he has proven thus far to be the exciting, elite-level fighter many of us thought he would. As a result, the fighter dubbed 'GGG' is far from a secret in boxing circles.

So who is boxing's new best kept secret?

The dubious distinction belongs to 30 year old Russian light heavyweight Artur Beterbiev (7-0, 7KO).

If you are not familiar with him, you soon will be.

Boasting an amateur pedigree that rival's Vasyl Lomachenko, Beterbiev won the silver at the 2007 World Amateur Boxing Championships, a gold at the 2009 World Amateur Boxing Championships and two gold medals at the European Amateur Boxing Championships in 2006 and 2010.

He also represented Russia at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, boxing as a light heavyweight.

The 5'11½" Russian, who now calls Quebec home, gained prominence by knocking out former IBF Light Heavyweight champion Tavoris Cloud last fall in only the Russian's sixth pro fight.

And Cloud was no slouch having gone the distance with fight legend Bernard Hopkins the prior year. As a matter of fact, it would be safe to say Beterbiev dispatched Cloud far easier than both Hopkins and current lineal light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson who halted Cloud in seven.

Beterbiev is an aggressive fighter with a killer instinct who possesses excellent punching power and fine technical prowess.

The Russian will fight again Saturday night in Quebec on Premier Boxing Champions and his opponent will be the battle-tested Gabriel Campillo (25-6-1, 12 KO).

Will Artur make quick work of Campillo too? Thus far, current unified light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev is the only fighter who has stopped Campillo inside of three rounds.

Although Beterbiev is only 7-0, he's already being mentioned by some as a future threat for both of the division's champions, Stevenson and Kovalev.

Will Artur Beterbiev become boxing's newest star?
