Canelo vs Khan prediction: Elite cruiserweight likes Amir
Late last week, Brendan Taylor of Tru School Sports found one of the toughest men in boxing, elite-level cruiserwight Steve Cunningham.
And when queried about his prediction for Canelo vs Khan, the former top 10 heavyweight wasn't shy about being in the minority.
"I'm going with Khan just because everyone else isn't." [Laugh]
"I believe Khan [with his] handspeed and movement and having Virgil Hunter in his corner is going to best Canelo."
"... Virgil Hunter has him fighting more active and smarter."
"Khan was a guy, at the lower weights, without a chin [but] fighting like he had a chin.
Cunningham seems to believe trainer Virgil Hunter will be the difference between Khan winning and losing, and suggested he was impressed with Amir's win over Devon Alexander.
Khan has looked solid in his last three bouts. Would it be too early to suggest trainer Hunter has refined a masterpiece?
Amir still gets a lot of critcism for being stopped by a then-little known Danny Garcia in 2012 but few seem to remember he was dominating Danny prior to be cracked with a perfect shot behind the ear. And even after being floored by that shot and badly hurt, Amir survived the round and came out fighting like a lion in the following stanza.
