Chavez Jr vs Canelo prediction: Lightweight star likes Julio, if focused
Hot
Unbeaten WBC Lightweight Champion Mikey Garcia (36-0-30), just prior to his nasty knockout win over Dejan Zlaticacin (22-1) last night, offered his prognosis for May's superfight between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and Canelo Alvarez.
"I think that is a good fight for the fans," Garcia told BoxingScene.com.
"Not the fight that people want to see Canelo in but it is still a good fight."
"I think Chavez, if he trains well like I hope he does, has a really good chance."
"He is a big guy, a strong guy," said Garcia.
"I think it is a close fight. If Chavez doesn't train or isn't motivated then I think Canelo has the advantage," Garcia told BoxingScene.com.
Some question Chavez's focus and discipline while others insist he's already a shot fighter, compliments of the beating he took by Sergio Martinez. Moreover, Chavez has had only 6 fights in the last 4 1/2 years and hasn't scored a knockout since Summer 2012 (Andy Lee).
Nevertheless, Garcia thinks a motivated Chavez pulls off the upset.
