Evgeny Romanov: Russia's No. 2 heavyweight returns
Russia is loaded with awesome fighters, including Sergey Kovalev, Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol.
And while we're familiar with longtime top 5 heavyweight Alexander Povetkin, most of us are unfamiliar with Evgeny Romanov (13-0, 9 KO) who is rated by BoxRec as the No. 2 heavyweight in the country (behind Povetkin).
Romanov will be back in the ring again August 24 against an opponent yet to be named. The bout will take place at Traktor Sport Palace in Chelyabinsk, Russia.
An accomplished amateur from 2003-09, Romanov the was 2009 Russian National Championships Gold medalist who is most known for knocking out current undefeated WBC Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder in 3.
For reasons unknown to us, Evgeny didn't turn pro until 2016, seven years after concluding his amateur career.
However, since turning pro in July of that year, the 34 year old has been quite active, fighting twice in the last 6 months of 2016, 5 times in 2017 and 4 times in 2018. His fight later this month will be Romanov's third of the year.
KO Pct: 75%
Height: 183cm / 6 feet 0"
Debut: July 30, 2016
Born July 20, 1985

Evgeny last fought in June, outpointing Argentinean Ariel Esteban Bracamonte (9-3, 5 KOs) who outweighted Romanov by 50 pounds, over 10 tough rounds.
Faster and more skillful, Evgeny floored his foe early on and proceeded to out-land Bracamonte while connecting on the cleaner, harder punches.
Romanov doesn't have any big names on his resume yet but look for him to face a name opponent next year.
Romanov floors Wilder in the amateurs.
