Golovkin vs Wade undercard features explosive No. 1 pound-for-pound fighterHot
Román González, (44-0, 38 KOs), the current WBC and The RING Magazine flyweight champion, returns tonight on the Gennady Golovkin vs Dominic Wade undercard.
Dubbed "Chocolatito," the Nicaraguan is considered the top fighter in the world, pound-for-pound, by RING Magazine and ESPN.
Of course, some insist the event's main attraction, Gennady Golovkin, deserves that rank.
Either way, Roman González is a phenomenal technician and truly something special.
A flyweight with a mind-numbing 86 percent knockouts-to-fights ratio, González hopes to face Mexico's Juan Francisco "Gallo" Estrada (33-2, 24 KO), owner of the WBA and WBO flyweight world titles, by year's end.
Chocolatito wants to unify all of the titles at flyweight but must defeat tonight's opponent, McWilliams Arroyo (16-2, 14 KO), if he wants to take a step closer towards securing a big showdown with Estrada.
The 30 year old Arroyo, rated No. 8 in the world by RING Magazine, hasn't fought in a year but boasts a 76 percent knockouts-to-fights ratio and is 13-1, 11 KOs in his last 14 fights. Moreover, he's never been KO'd and his September 2014 loss came via split decision to IBF flyweight champion Amnat Ruenroeng (then 13-0).
