The 6'9" 27 year old Dycho is best known for winning a Bronze Medal at the 2012 Olympics where he lost to Brit Anthony Joshua 13–11. And as an amateur, he defeated Chinese standout Zhilei Zhang who is now 18-0 as a pro.
"in my opinion Dychko did a little bit better in that [Joshua] fight... i expect him to be a good pro but it is a pity that he joined a so weak promoter MJA entertaiment of Mike Altamura based in Australia," stated a fam last year on BoxRec.
"Numerous amateur tournaments have demonstrated that Joshua is clearly better than Dychko. But I'm sure that Dychko has the potential to be a decent pro, given his height, experience, and age. Too old, given his abilities, to really develop into an elite fighter," another commenter added.
In 2016, Dychko was in Wladimir Klitschko's camp to help the latter prepare for his rematch with Tyson Fury.
“Everything was top notch," Dycho told Astana Times.
"Of course, it was interesting to check yourself in sparring against such a great and experienced fighter as Wladimir Klitschko. …The two weeks with Klitschko’s team were a great experience."
The Million Dollar Question: After winning a medal at the 2012 Olympics and giving Joshua all he could handle, what took him so long to turn pro?
To his credit, he turned pro just last fall and is already 5-0, 5 KOs. He should aim to have at least 4 or 5 more fights by the end of the year.
Last night, Dychko scored a highlight reel knockout over Stephen Kirnon.
