Hi, guys!

It’s your girl, Lady Chann, checking in live!  We are at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a 64K capacity for the Anthony Joshua/Oleksandr Usyk weigh-in!

Hall of Fame ring announcer Michael Buffer called the former undefeated and undisputed Cruiserweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk (18-0-0, 13 KOs), to the scale first.  After removing his mint green tracksuit, the former Olympic gold medalist looked to be in great shape; just slightly heavier than usual.

Voila! The Mad Ukrainian weighed in at a very healthy 221 lbs.

It would appear as though the title challenger didn't want to sacrifice his speed and quickness against AJ on Saturday night. His recorded weight was only a four-pound increase from his most recent fight against Dereck Chisora, which took place in October of 2020.

In my opinion, Usyk is a natural Cruiserweight and will greatly depend on agility, movement, and endurance if he hopes to have any success against the reigning champion.  The 34-year-old, visiting fighter was surprisingly well-received by the lively crowd in attendance, which was nice to see.

Moments later, the two-time, unified heavyweight champion of the world, Anthony ‘AJ’ Joshua (24-1-0, 22 KOs), made his way to the scale with a resounding chant of "GO ANTHONY JOSHUA" bouncing off the stadium walls.

While wearing his usual "Beats By Dre" headphones around his neck, the incumbent champ stepped onto the scale and weighed in at approximately 240 pounds; just 3/4 of a pound lighter than his most recent outing against Kurbat Pulev in December of 2020.

Once Joshua stood side by side with the undefeated challenger, the 19-pound weight difference didn't appear to be terribly dramatic, due to the chiseled and lean physique of the Watford native.

But as soon as the two combatants participated in the customary post weigh-in face-off, the disparity in height and overall size was overwhelming...AJ's massive figure loomed over Usyk.

The crowd favorite then took the mic and addressed the thousands in attendance. He proceeded to thank Team GB, Finchley Boxing gym, as well as the native country of his parents, Nigeria.

The two athletes ended the pre-fight pageantry, posing together for the raucous crowd, with AJ pointing to Usyk, and Usyk returning the gesture. Both heavyweights shook hands, smiled, and embraced, displaying genuine respect and sportsmanship.

I cannot WAIT for this fight!
