Kenzie Morrison (16-0-2, 14 KO), son of famed 1990's heavyweight Tommy "The Duke" Morrison, stopped Sam Shewmaker (5-1) in the second round last night at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas.

Kenzie, 29, who started the fight roaring, stalked Shewmaker from start to finish.

An established bare-knuckle fighter, Shewmaker,35, looked to use his movement, a snapping jab and sneaky uppercut to fend off Morrison but the latter was too skilled, avoiding most of Sam's power punches.

Like his late father, Kenzie appears to be a crowd-pleasing brawler who fights out of a crouch and explodes with thudding shots. And last night, he looked to have landed at least 50 percent of his power punches.

Late in Round 1, Kenzie hurt Sam with a massive left hook before dropping him with an uppercut.

In Round 2 it was more of the same with Kenzie stalking and unleashing big hooks while Sam retreated, using his jab to try to keep Kenzie at bay. But Shewmaker, who offered no head movement and minimal slipping, was simply unable to defend himself against the onrushing Morrison.

Trapped against the ropes, Shewmaker went down again after absorbing left and right hooks. And moments later, Kenzie landed a crashing left hook that put Shewmaker down again. Dazed, Sam was slow to rise but appeared to have beaten the count. Nevertheless, the referee wisely halted the action.

Morrison, who entered ranked No. 272 of 1294 active heavyweights by BoxRec looked good last night despite getting a bit wild at times.

Let's hope he fights at least 1-2 more times by the end of the year.
