Manny Pacquiao: Was PacMan at Floyd Mayweather’s press event?

Joseph Herron Updated February 13, 2019
On Tuesday, July 15th, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Marcos Maidana held a massive press conference at Six Flags/Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, TX, to promote their upcoming rematch, which is slated to take place on September 13th, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Although over a thousand fight fans showed up at the family theme park to witness the highly publicized media event, one specific bystander looked oddly familiar and stood out among the fight fans in attendance.

Was that eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao recording the event and sizing up both fighters for a potential 2015 pairing?

While most will dismiss the seemingly outlandish claim, the popular pound for pound king was on record at a recent media event in Los Angeles, stating that an unexpected boxing revelation was on the horizon for Team Mayweather next year.

On Sunday, June 29th, while on the red carpet of the 2014 BET Awards, Floyd “Money” Mayweather spoke to “Miss Kris” of Laten Media and announced that he had a “big surprise” for his fans in 2015.

“September 13th, back to business…Marcos Maidana and Floyd Mayweather part two,” stated the highest paid athlete at the Nokia Theater L.A. Live last month. “And then in May, I’m fighting in May and I’ll have a big surprise for y’all.”

Was this the surprise to which Floyd was referring?

If Mayweather is planning to stage “the fight of fights” with his long time verbal nemesis, Top Rank’s perplexing recent announcement of a perceived “tune-up” for their Filipino star with newly crowned WBO Junior Welterweight titlist on November 22nd, it makes the motives behind the Top Rank/Pacquiao decision easier to understand.

Especially when PPV sales for both superstar fighters have been unusually low, should fight fans expect to see these boxing titans finally meet in the ring next year?

Is a mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Paccquiao finally going to take place?

Stay tuned, boxing fans…things might get interesting very soon!!
