Manny Pacquiao works to save woman's lifeHot
Top Rank head Bob Arum has publicly lambasted his company's top draw, Manny Pacquiao, for missing a planned visit to his doctor in Los Angeles.
Manny, of course, is being treated for a torn right rotator cuff.
The medical visit was scheduled for July 4th but Pacquiao made public appearances in Indonesia instead.
Arum, upset by Pacquiao's decision, went on to say that he has no idea when Pacquiao may make a return to the ring.
"As far as I'm concerned he's not an active fighter," Arum told BoxingScene last week.
He also told the boxing site that Pacquiao had "not been acting very professionally."
Pacquiao had surgery to repair a torn right shoulder rotator cuff on May 7th; an injury that was aggravated in his unanimous decision defeat against Floyd Mayweather Jr five days prior.
So why was Manny in Indonesia?
He purportedly was visiting a fellow Filipino on death row. Mary Jane Veloso was sentenced to death there after being apprehended with 2.6 kilograms of heroin that was allegedly sown into the lining of her suitcase in 2009.
Pacquiao, a devout Christian and Congressman in the Philippines, had this to say to Boxingscene.com concerning the reasons for his trip:
"We're hoping to help save Mary Jane's life, I think Mary Jane is a victim of human-trafficking," Pacquiao said after visiting the single mother of two young children in the Wirogunan prison on the main island of Java on July 10.
But Arum, 83, feels Pacquiao's priority should be tending to his injury and undergoing rehabilitation.
Pacquiao has been promoted by Arum since 2005.
