Manuel Charr vs Fres Oquendo: The 'Who Cares?' heavyweight title fight?

And the list goes on.

A lot of heavyweight match-ups are generating buzz in the boxing world but one bout - a title fight - seems to have absolutely no one talking.

Manual Charr (31-4, 17 KO) vs Fres Oquendo (37-8, 24 KO) on September 29.

----------
Fight facts: Fres Oquendo, having fought 320 professional rounds, has more 'pro rounds' experience than Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder combined; And he's never been stopped inside the distance in 45 fights
----------

And yes, at-stake will be something called the WBA 'Regular' Heavyweight title. Of course, that's not to be confused with the WBA 'Super' Title current held by Anthony Joshua.

And yes, Manual Charr, like Joshua, Deontay Wilder and Joseph Parker, owns a heavyweight title of a major sanctioning body. (Albeit the 'Regular' version).

When is the WBA getting rid of this Super/Regular title nonsense? Maybe they'll add a 'Semi' champion too?

Truth be told, Charr vs Oquendo might be more relevant if not for the stench of a bogus world title attached.

Fast fact:
Heavyweight “title” challenger Fres Oquendo (37-8, 24 KO), who'll be 45 next month, hasn't fought since the tinder age of 41. Moreover, he lost his most recent bout - a majority decision tilt to Ruslan Chagaev in 2014.

Top 5 heavyweight Kubrat Pulev was presumably going to fight for the then-vacant 'Regular' title late last year but Charr vs Alexander Ustinov was announced instead. It was a decent scrap, but certainly not deserving of a "World Heavyweight Title" label.

At least Pulev would have added some credibility...

The wacky world of boxing just won't change.

Charr vs Oquendo key quote:
Source: BoxingScene.com
"We won the WBA purse bid fair and square. Simple. If you don't abide by your own rules, then don't even have rules nor purse bids. But then again this is boxing and anything goes," Tom Tsatas, Oquendo's promoter, stated.
