Mayweather vs Pacquiao 2015: Date, stats and facts

Mayweather vs Pacquiao hasn't been confirmed yet but many are optimistic the proposed boxing match between undefeated, five-division world champion and eight-division world champion will be announced soon.

Although Mayweather vs Pacquiao would, at least as of this post, be the highest grossing fight in history, disagreements between the two boxers' camps on terms for the fight has so far prevented the bout from happening.

Oddly, the failure to make the Manny vs Floyd fight was named The Ring Magazine Event of the Year for 2010.

On December 12, 2014, Mayweather proposed a May 2nd, 2015 fight with Pacquiao, stating that Pacquiao had lost to both Marquez and Bradley, and that Pacquiao is "not on his level".

He ended his comments with, "Lets make this fight happen for the people and for the fans. Mayweather versus Manny Pacquiao. May 2nd."

And now, there's even talk of a trilogy.

“Possibly we’ll do a multi-fight contract, I thought that was the best idea in the world,” stated Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, earlier this week to HBO’s Jim Lampley in a recent conversation about the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao mega fight.

“I’d love to see these guys fight more than once, if they split the first two, then the third could be a rubber match, and we’d have three big fights.”

HBO or Showtime?
Given Floyd is wed to Showtime and Manny is an HBO fighter, the broadcasting of this event may be another hurdle. However, a similar predicament was solved in 2002 when Mike Tyson, a Showtime fighters, faced Lennox Lewis, who had obligations to HBO.  The rival networks compromised at the event was broadcast simulatneously on both channels.
