Mayweather vs Pacquiao odds: PacMan getting more bets, Floyd higher money
We are less than three weeks from the biggest fight ever, Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao, a superfight the sportsworld has been buzzing about since 2009.
Mayweather vs Pacquiao is expected to break nearly every conceivable box office record including PPV buys, onsite revenue and betting action.
So who do you like, Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao?
As of April 12, here is how things stand according to famous oddsmaker Joey Oddessa.
When Mayweather vs Pacquiao was announced, Floyd opened at a whopping 3 to 1 favorite or -300. That, of course, didn't stand very long as the Pacquiao money came rolling in, dropping Floyd to a -190 (or slightly less than 2 to 1) on some online books.
Currently Floyd is sitting around -220.
According to Oddessa, bets for Pacquiao outnumber Mayweather nearly 3-to-1 but the money being wagered on Floyd is much higher.
As the bout draws near, look for more activity in the betting marketplace and, barring any earth-shattering news from either camp, expect odds to be trimmed as a hopeful public will, as usual, take emotions into account when wagering. As a result, the underdog, Pacquiao, may pull much closer to Floyd by fight day, prompting heavy, last-minute (literally) money on Floyd.
“I don’t think you’ll see the Floyd money hit the screen. The biggest bets will be on Floyd at post,” Oddessa said.
“We’ll never really get to see the true closing number because it will come in so late. You see the ‘closing line’ but that won’t reflect that money on Floyd at post.”
A bulk of the betting, of course, will be placed on fight night.
