Mayweather vs Pacquiao prediction: “If my son jumps on his a**, Manny will be out of there quick”
At Tuesday’s media workout at the Mayweather Boxing Club, the pound for pound king wasn’t the only member of the renowned boxing family approached by the often intrusive boxing media.
Head trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. answered his son’s detractors about the May 2nd super fight between his son and eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao. and offered his own Mayweather vs Pacquiao prediction.
“Before this fight was made, so many people kept talking about how scared Floyd was of Manny Pacquiao,” stated always candid boxing coach.
“We’re going to see on the 2nd how scared this fighter is. People talking about Pacquiao and how much faster, stronger and how he hits harder than Floyd…all these things right here…everything they’re saying is false.”
“We’re going to prove it on the 2nd.”
When asked how the match-up might have played out five or six years ago, while both fighters were still in their perceived prime, Floyd Sr. had an interesting response.
“I can’t tell you about what would have happened then,” claims the 62 year old trainer. “All I can tell you is what’s going to happen now. I’m gonna update you all the way. Floyd’s gonna kick his a$$,” claims the elder statesman of the Mayweather clan.
“He’s gonna patch his eyes up, swell his ears up, and beat the hell out of him.”
“People talking about how Floyd’s gonna run all night…we’re fixin’ to see. I want to see this myself. This is it. We’re going to shut everyone down…after this is over, all of the nonsense is done.”
“If my son jumps on his a$$, he’ll be out of there quick,” states the veteran fight trainer. “It might not even go six rounds.
We’ll know as early as the first round. But I really don’t think it’s going the distance. He’s too smart for Pacquiao…way smarter than Pacquiao.
Several members of the mainstream press asked senior whether or not a win over the Filipino icon would be the biggest accomplishment of his son’s career. Floyd Sr.’s response was staggering to most in attendance.
“I’m not going to say it will be my son’s biggest victory,” I believe Alvarez was a better opponent. I think Maidana is better than him. C’mon, man…put Maidana and Pacquiao in the ring together and see what happens. Maidana gonna rape him. I think Canelo would whoop him too.”
