Mayweather vs Pacquiao prediction: Ricky Hatton picks Floyd but....
British fight legend Ricky Hatton chimed in on the fight everyone has been talking about, Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao on May 2.
Hatton, of course, lost to both stars by knockout.
So who is Hatton predicting to win Mayweather vs Pacquiao?
"I slightly lean towards Floyd but only by the narrowest of margins," the future Hall of Famer told Hatton Boxing.
"A few years ago, Manny looked untouchable and Manny...when he fought Timothy Bradley (the first time) and then fought Marquez, he looked like he had seen better days and Floyd was looking better than ever."
"But lately Floyd has been looking not quite the force [that he used to be], but still quite the force. He's beaten Maidana and that's no [small] feat, but it wasn't quite at the standard that we've expected from him."
Recognizing Manny's recent accomplishments, Hatton added,"To be honest Manny has been looking better than ever since that knockout [Marquez] defeat."
Hatton was referring to Pacquiao's wins over Chris Algieri and Tim Bradley.
Perhaps as a result of the controversy stemming from his first meeting with Bradley, Manny Pacquiao doesn't get enough credit for decisively defeating Tim, a solid top 10 pound-for-pound fighter, in their rematch.
At 35, the Filipino icon showed tremendous speed, footwork and hand-eye coordination that night against an elite, very determined, undefeated opponent.
Given the level of opposition, Pacquiao's win over Bradley was arguably more impressive than each of Mayweather's last three bouts.
