Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch: "There’s a lot of chatter on both sides"

Lee Cleveland Updated February 13, 2019

Will Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao fight again?

Showtime Sports executive Stephen Espinoza is certainly not ruling out the liklihood.

"I think we have to remain open to it," he told BoxingScene.

"There’s a lot of chatter on both sides about the possibility."

"Once Manny successfully recovers from [shoulder] surgery, if there a demand and if Floyd is still active or would consider coming back to being active then it would be a topic of conversation."

"But it will be driven by demand," Espinoza recently told Multi Channel News.

Earlier this week, however, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told suggested there was no legitimacy to the rematch hearsay.

Mayweather vs Pacquiao generated a purported 4.4 to 5 million buys and Floyd earned upwards of $200 million while Manny pocketed a cool $150 million.

Perhaps the biggest question is: How much money will it take to lure Floyd who seems intent on retiring following his next bout which will likely be in September?

Would Floyd, who generated $200 million dollars for his bout with Manny and was already filthy rich heading into the fight, settle for $50, $75 or $100 million for a return bout?"
