Mayweather vs Pacquiao: Will open scoring be in place?

Apparently, opening score might be in play for Saturday's fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

The World Boxing Council (WBC) launched open scoring a few years ago and it has been used for some, if not most, championship fights and title eliminators sanctioned by the organization.

Given Floyd Mayweather is a WBC champion, some are asking if open scoring will be implemented Saturday night?

What is open scoring?

Essentially, scores are announced after Rounds 4 and 8 to help both corners assess where their respective fighters stand in the fight.

The objective is to give fighters the ability to modify their game plan based on the official scores. For example, in the third bout between Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez, the latter's corner, late in the fight, assured JMM he was in control when, in reality, he was behind on the scorecards.  Pacquiao would win a majority decision.

Oscar De La Hoya, assuming he was far ahead, played it safe and gave away the last three rounds to Felix Trinidad in their 1999 superfight, and would subsequently drop a split decision.

We've seen open scoring implemented in two ways:

a. Scores are given to both corners as well as those in attendance and the viewers on television and
b. Scores are shared with both corners but concealed from everyone else

Opponents insist all-inclusive open scoring curtails drama and intrigue for fans, and that in the more covert version (Item b. above), the scores are sometimes made public via word-of-mouth from the corner. Hence, a trainer, after learning of the scores, is seen imploring his fighter to throw more punches, telling him he's behind by two points.

Do you favor open scoring? If so, which version do you prefer?

And if implemented, which fighter would it help most?
