Following his knockout o fDaniel Geale last night, lineal middleweight champion Miguel Cotto didn't seem enthusiastic about the prospect of facing unified middleweight belt-holder Gennady Golovkin.

In the post-fight interview, Cotto, after hesitatating for a few moments, addressed a possible bout with Golovkin:

"Why not? After the next fight, we’ll see."

"My weight yesterday was 153.6 pounds, you think I’m a middleweight? I’m not."

Was Cotto hinting fans should not expect to see him in the ring with Gennady because Miguel is a natural super welterweight?

And last week, Cotto's trainer, Freddie Roach, hinted to BoxingScene that Golovkin was too much risk for the reward at the moment due to his perceived lack of popularity among casual fans.

Should Cotto defeat Canelo Alvarez later this year, will Miguel sidestep Golovkin for another opponent?

Enter Oscar De La Hoya.

Last week on a radio show, the 42 year old legend, who hasn't stepped in the ring since 2008, told listeners he thinks about a comeback daily, adding he feels he's fit enough to potentially lace 'em up again.

For a small middleweight like Cotto, would the De La Hoya be a better option? Oscar is 42, hasn't fought in seven years and would be bigger draw than Gennady.

If Oscar decides to fight again, rest-assured he'll be in strong contention to face Miguel Cotto should the latter defeat Alvarez later this year.
