Today, from WIN Entertainment Centre, Wollongong, former WBA heavyweight champion Lucas Browne (29-3, 25 KO) was knocked out in the first round by former professional rugby league footballer Paul Gallen (11-0-1, 6 KO).

The 39-year-old Gallen knocked down Browne, 42, with a left early in the round.

Browne was able to get to his feet but was floored again after being hit with a flurry of punches while against the ropes.

Gallen taunted Browne throughout the lead-up to the fight.

"Maybe some of the supplements over the years are starting to take effect,” said Paul. My missus actually saw it and said, ‘Give him a bra’.

“I said, ‘Darling, he’s probably too big for you, those b*tch t***’. So, I’m a little bit concerned about that. We’ve spoken about testing.”

Gallen also described Browne’s WBA heavyweight world title as a “reserve grade” world title. (news.com.au)

Per bet365 on April 19, Browne was the -225 favorite with Gallen the +163 underdog.

Reports suggest Browne will walk away with a fight purse of $130,000, while Gallen’s purse is significantly higher. (news.com.au)
