Sergei Liakhovich May Have Suffered a Broken Nose
According to RingTV.com., Sergei Liakhovich's team claim their fighter's nose was broken in two places during the early rounds of yesterday's fight with Robert Helenius.
"Sergei was unable to breathe through his nose from the moment the first break occurred in the third round," manager Tony Cardinale told RingTV.
The Belorussian native will likely have surgery when he returns to the U.S. later this week.
Bleeding from the nose most of the fight, Liokhovich (25-4, 16 KOs) fought valiantly until the end. Helenius badly hurt and knocked down Liakhovich at the end of Round 8 before stopping his foe early in the following round by a lethal uppercut and ensuing combination.
Helenius improved to Helenius 16-0, 11 KOs.
