Trey Lippe Morrison wins in destructive fashion (Video highlights)

Lee Cleveland Updated February 13, 2019

Appearing on national television for the first time, heavyweight boxer Trey Lippe Morrison scored a first-round knockout victory over previously unbeaten Ed Latimore at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma.

With the win, Morrison improved to 12-0, 12 KO while Latimore drops to 13-1, 7 KO.

Showcasing a crowd-pleasing style and heavy hands like his late father, Trey Lippe unleashed powerful flurries, sending his foe to the canvas three times before the referee halted the action at 2:19 of the opening round.

Trained by the great Freddie Roach, the 6'2" Morrison, who turns 27 next week, is now ranked No. 35 among active American heavyweights by BoxRec.

Given he doesn't have a strong amateur pedigree, Trey must stay busy in the ring and continue learning on the job if he wants to become a contender.

His father, Tommy Morrison, a former WBO heavyweight champion and top 10 heavyweight for the better part of 1991 to 1996, died in September 2013.

Was Tommy Morrison ever not in an exciting fight? Of his 52 bouts, only seven went the distance. He was a great warrior during an exhilarating time in heavyweight boxing.

Will his son, Trey Lippe, follow in his father's footsteps?
