Trey Lippe-Morrison vs Daniel Martz, Feb 10
Hot
With only two weeks to prepare, Daniel Martz (15-4-1, 12 KO) will face heavyweight slugger Trey Lippe-Morrison (13-0, 13 KO) on February 10.
Lippe-Morrison vs Martz will broadcast on ShoBox: A New Generation and will take place at the Buffalo Run Casino & Resort in Oklahoma.
“Finding Trey’s opponent was the hardest thing I’ve done in 35 years,” Tony Holden, Lippe-Morrison's promoter, told joblinglobe.com.
“We went through 30 guys that wouldn’t fight him. It was the worst. Trey’s a big puncher and no one wants to fight him unless it’s for crazy money. I knew this day would come, but we finally got one locked in.”
Appearing on national television for the first time last September, Lippe-Morrison, now ranked No. 49 in the division by BoxRec, scored a first-round knockout victory over previously unbeaten Ed Latimore.
Showcasing a crowd-pleasing style and heavy hands like his late father, Trey Lippe unleashed powerful flurries, sending his foe to the canvas three times before the referee halted the action at 2:19 of the opening round.
Trained by Freddie Roach, Lippe-Morrison is, of course, the son of the late Tommy Morrison, a former WBO heavyweight champion and top 10 heavyweight for the better part of 1991 to 1996.
So who is Daniel Martz?
The 6'7½" 26 year old pugilist hails from Clarksburg, WV and is ranked No. 147 in the division by BoxRec. His most notable bout was a first round knockout loss to current WBO champ Joseph Parker in December 2015.
Martz, 8-3 in his last eleven bouts, last fought in November dispatching Arthur Saribekian (then 23-12-1).
