The Gennady Golovkin knockout streak is now at 19 after his 11th round TKO victory over Martin Murray (29-2-1, 12 KOs) at the Salle des Etoiles in Monte Carlo earlier today.

Dubbed 'Triple G,' Golovkin, who improved to (32-0, 29 KOs), showed once again why he is considered by many the hardest puncher pound-for-pound in the sport.

Murray, who was stopped for the first time in his career, was game and gave Golovkin arguably his toughest fight. But in the end, he could not withstand Golovkin’s relentless pressure and punching power.

The fight was close after the first three rounds before Triple G began to take over in round four.

With 1:14 remaining in the round, Golovkin hit Murray with a right hand to the body that dropped Murray to a knee. Murray was up at the count of seven but, again, he was floored moments later following another right hand to the body.

Triple G would drop Murray again in Round 10 after a thunderous right hand to the head. Murray, who staggered upon rising, was on his feet at the count of eight and was fortunate the bell rang soon thereafter to end the round.

There was talk in Murray’s corner about whether they would stop the fight, but trainer Oliver Harrison sent him out for another round.

The onslaught would continue in round 11 as Golovkin would batter Murray around the ring. Then, with 2:16 remaining in the round, Golovkin hit Murray with a solid right to the chin that buckled the latter's knees and forced the referee to halt to the contest.

According to CompuBox numbers Golovkin landed 292 out of 816 punches compared to Murray who landed 131 out of 469. And with the win, Triple G retains his WBO and WBA middleweight titles and is now looking for a unification fight.

When Max Kellerman asked Triple G who he'd prefer to fight next, Golovkin responded, “I hope, I hope Miguel Cotto because he’s the WBC champion. My goal is to get all the belts, I need a unification fight.”

If Golovkin is able to get a fight with Cotto, who hasn’t fought since winning the WBC middleweight championship in June against Sergio Martinez, it will likely happen in the second half of this year and at Madison Square Garden.

We know Golovkin wants to make the fight happen, the question is does Cotto?
