Wilder vs Molina purses: "A good step in the right direction"
So how much will WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder generate for fighting Eric Molina on Saturday night?
According to the Alabama Athletic Commission, the new belt-holder stands to earn a cool $1.4 million, his highest purse yet.
The challenger, a big underdog, will take home $250,000.
In his most recent outing in January, Wilder collected $1,000,000 for his fight against Bermane Stiverne in Las Vegas. Stiverne, who dropped a unanimous decision to Wilder, was the first opponent to go the distance with the Alabama native.
"He can make really good money in Alabama with his ability to sell out arenas," Jay Deas, his co-manager and trainer, recently told AL.com.
"It was reported his title fight was a million dollars. I can definitely tell you that our plan is to go up, up, up and this is a good step in that direction."
Wilder vs Molina will be broadcast on Showtime.
