Wilder vs Povetkin prediction: Peter Fury makes pick
Not surprisingly, his comments were similar to his fighter's prediction a few weeks ago.
"Wilder's getting better...he's improving," Peter Fury told FightHype.
"I see him being too much for Povetkin...I see a stoppage as well..."
"Povetkin's just too small to deal with Wilder," stated Peter Fury.
Is Alexander Povetkin, at 6'2"/ 1.88m, too small to be a threat for the 6'7" Wilder?
Keep in mind, Povetkin has an excellent sense of range, a very strong amateur background and formidable punching power.
Wilder surely isn't the first 6'7" opponent Alex has shared the ring with over the years and the latter is undoubtedly incorporating strategies in training to offset Deontay's height and reach advantages.
Wladimir Klitschko, at 6'6," had his fands full with Povetkin and was forced to hold, clinch, grapple and tackle the shorter Russian throughout the fight.
Will Wilder incorporate the same strategy? if so, will he be able to get away with it?
What Wlad did was an abrasion of the rules. Some officials would have disqualified him for all of his holding.
Perhaps Tyson and Peter Fury read about the lopsided totals on the Klitschko vs Povetkin scorecards and the Klitschko knockdowns, but didn't watch the fight?
Instead of outboxing Alex from the outside and using movement, Wlad resorted to mugging his foe because he couldn't keep Alex from getting inside.
