On January 17, 6'7" 29 year old Deontay Wilder will fight WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) of Canada. Wilder's outstanding record of 32 wins 0 losses and 32 knockouts has a lot of people talking about the American boxer.

Not only has Deontay knocked out all of his opponents, he's done so within four rounds. None of his 32 foes have seen Round 5.

And while the loquacious, superbly-confident Wilder has had some choice words about his upcoming showdown, not everyone is impressed, with his accomplishments or trash talk.

"I think Wilder is a clown," the stern-faced WBC champion said recently.

"Wilder thinks this is the WWE. He acts like it's the WWE."

"[But] This is for real."

"It is going to hurt very bad."

"On Jan. 17 I will hurt Wilder and I will knock him out and it will be a lasting image in peoples' minds for a very long time."

Tough words from a tough man.

Stiverne, who is training at the Mayweather Gym, inists he's been preparing for this fight since August and is in the best shape of his career.

"It has been a long, long training camp and I am in the best shape I have ever been in. I plan to go in the ring between 238 and 242 pounds. We thought about going lower but I am a super heavyweight and that is the weight where I am best."

Wilder vs Stiverne at MGM Grand in Las Vegas will take place January 17 and will be broadcast on SHOWTIME®.
