Wladimir Klitschko and Jean-Marc Mormeck Eye Possible March 3rd Date
The scheduled fight for Saturday, December 10, at the ESPRIT arena in Düsseldorf, Germany, between IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko and former Cruiserweight Champion Jean-Marc Mormeck was cancelled due to a severe kidney colic suffered by the universally recognized heavyweight king.
Last Saturday, Wladimir Klitschko underwent an operation to remove a painful kidney stone. After initial recovery, he was forced to undergo an additional operation due to reoccurring pain.
Prof. Dr. Peter Albers (head of the urology department of the University Hospital Düsseldorf): "In his current state it would not be reasonable to compete in a world championship fight. After two surgeries within 24 hours, everyone needs time to recover."
K2 promotions are looking at March 3rd as a possible make-up date for the big championship bout. "Purchased tickets will hold their validity", stated Bernd Bönte, Managing Director of Klitschko Management Group.
