Bernard Hopkins, Joe Frazier, Meldrick Taylor and... Bryant Jennings?

Will Philadelphia produce yet another champion in 2015?

After a split decision victory against Mike Perez in July, heavyweight Bryant Jennings (19-0) now sits as the mandatory WBC title challenger, awaiting the winner of the Bermane Stiverne and Deontay Wilder title fight which may take place in early 2015.

Given the fact that Stiverne-Wilder has been delayed multiple times for various reasons, it seems unlikely Jennings may not receive a WBC title shot until summer at the earliest. And having not fought since July 2014, he'd be shaking off some ring rust in the process.

But according to ESPN.com's Dan Rafael, there may be a solution to the Jennings quandary.

"I have been contacted by the Klitschko people and they have spoken to me about a possible deal for a fight in the U.S. in the first quarter of 2015," claims Jennings' promoter Gary Shaw.

Wladimir, who is coming off a marvelous knockout victory over Kubrat Pulev, may stage his next bout on US soil as his fiancée, Hayden Penettiere, is expecting the couple's first child in the coming days.

According to Rafael, HBO is willing to pay in the ballpark of 3 million for the rights to air the fight, and the Klitschko team plans to hold the event in either Madison Square Garden or the Barclays Center, both of which are located in New York.

Some may wonder why Jennings would risk losing his WBC mandatory challenger status, especially given the fact that a fight with either Stiverne or Wilder would, at least at this point in his career, may be more winnable; but Wlad is the true lineal champion and a Klitschko vs Jennings bout would result in a higher purse for the Philadelphia native and generate greater buzz.

If this fight takes place, it will air on HBO as the second fight of the three fight deal Klitschko signed with HBO a few weeks ago.
