Floyd Mayweather: Net worth surges after Pacquiao fightWritten by Joshua Broom
On May 2nd 2015, boxing's longtime pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao headlined the most lucrative fight card in the history of the sport.
On the line was something much greater than the welterweight championship of the world and boxing's mythical pound-for-pound title; At stake was 'Fighter of the Generation' distinction.
...And in the end, Floyd Mayweather's hand would be raised in victory.
The mega fight purportedly generated nearly $600 million.

In all, the winner of the richest prizefight in boxing's storied history, Floyd Mayweather, netted (minus taxes) between $220 and $230 million because he's his own promoter and therefore doesn't have to pay a third party promotional entity.
Fight legend Manny Pacquiao garnered a little over $150 million but will have to part with some of that to pay his promoter, Bob Arum.
To really appreciate the amount of money Floyd made in his fiscally fantastic fistic moment, it is nearly $70 million dollars more than basketball star Lebron James has made in his entire NBA career.
To date, Floyd Mayweather's 14 pay per view fights have generated a gainful $1.3 billion. As a result, Floyd Mayweather's net worth is now estimated to be between $340 and $360 million.
Incidentally, about half of Floyd's earnings from the Pacquiao fight will go to Uncle Sam.
