Adrien Broner to fight Floyd Mayweather (sort of) on April 1Written by Leroy Cleveland
It got ugly.... It got really nasty.
Adrien Broner, who once idolized his former BFF, Floyd Mayweather, now curses him.
On April 1, of course, Broner faces Ashely Theophane, a fighter promoted by Floyd.
And given what transpired this week, Broner would love nothing more than to place a proverbial 'stamp of approval' on a fighter Mayweather has high hopes for.
Back to his usual self these days, Adrien Broner recently posted a video of himself at WalMart throwing money around.
Boastful and arrogant, his antics were reminiscent of Ted DiBiase "The Million Dollar Man,' an icon in pro wrestling during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
But Floyd was highly critical of the clip, essentially calling Broner immature and stupid without directly saying it.
However, Broner's reply to Floyd's retort was very direct.
Via a video, Adrien blasted his former BFF, even mentioning Floyd's domestic abuse cases and how the boxing great infamously burned $100 bills in public.
Looking angry in the video, Adrien Broner railed Floyd:
"Floyd talking about me again..not once, but this has happened on multiple occasions. This goes back to what I said, real n*ggas don't do this type of sh*t bro," as reported by BoxingScene.com.
"You said want me to do all this good sh*t and then when you do an interview you talk bad about me. It's like how real is that?
"I don't give a f*** what you did n*gga, whether it was real or not. Any time you was in those lawsuits n*gga, with your baby momma and they say you hitting her with three pieces like you fighting [Miguel] Cotto. I don't get into that. I don't say 'he shoulda did this or he shoulda did that.'"
"You was the same n*gga four or five years ago burning money in the club. C'mon bro, you're 39. So you was 34, 35 at the time. You burning money in the club and I didn't say anything about that. That motivated me that one day I would have enough money to throw some change at Walmart."
"I didn't think that would ruffle your feathers bro. C'mon stop talking bad about me bro."'
"I'm starting to think that you're saying f*** me, so f*** you no homo my n*gga, cause that's what it is bro."
In some ways, Broner, in fighting Theophane, will be fighting Floyd on April 1.
Perhaps Adrien Broner is finally stepping out and being his own man and creating his own identity instead of clinging to Floyd's coattails.
It's refreshing to see "AB" with some edge these days.
If Adrien Broner is in shape and doesn't let his anger get the best of him, it may be a long and, perhaps, painful night for Ashley Theophane.
And if 'AB' unleashes a thorough beat down, rest-assured he'll remind people of what transpired, especially Floyd Mayweather.
