"I understand that they feel they bring a lot to the table, because they have big fan bases," stated the 32 year old prizefighter. "But when you fight a guy like Manny Pacquiao, you'll make the most money you've ever made in your career and you have the opportunity to shock the world. And if you beat Pacquiao, it takes your career to another level."
Berto believes that although Pacquiao is a tough out, even at age 37, there are no easy fights currently within the talent enriched Welterweight division.
"You have a pack of lions who are coming to fight at 147," claims the former WBC champion. "So you're going to be rolling the dice every fight for nowhere near that type of money."
Despite remaining one of the biggest stars in boxing, Manny Pacquiao's latest PPV effort opposite Tim Bradley failed to crack the 500K mark in purchases. Andre feels that perhaps the disappointing numbers had something to do with Garcia and Broner's decision to bypass the bout with the Pacman.
"Maybe guys like Adrien and Danny feel that Pacquiao needs them more than they need him at this stage in his career," observes Andre Berto. "But it's a gamble. There are a lot of dangerous guys at 147…we're hungry."
"You've got myself, Errol Spence, Keith Thurman…we've got Porter and everyone else looking like dogs! But hey…it's the decision they made, and they're allowed to make it."
When asked if he would be interested in taking on a ring legend like Manny Pacquiao, Berto's answer was a bit more resolute than both Garcia and Broner.
"Of course," proclaimed the Florida native. "It would definitely be something I would look into."
Although nothing has been officially announced, Andre Berto is expected to challenge current WBC Welterweight title holder Danny Garcia for his belt on September 24th.
