The former National Golden Gloves champion has just signed on with Salita Promotions and hopes to eventually figure into the mix of top contenders.
"Jermaine is the best American heavyweight prospect in boxing and he's just a few fights away from being a familiar name for fans," Salita told Sky Sports.
Salita, of course, has managed the career of Top 10 heavyweight Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller.
"I want to raise the competition in the heavyweight division," Franklin told Sky Sports.
"There are some great heavyweights like Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua that are putting the division back on top."
"I want to be right there with them, and have a hand in making the division must-watch TV once again."
Hailing from Saginaw, MI, Jermaine doesn't have any familiar names on his ledger yet and Salita has not determined Franklin's next opponent.
At 6'2", Franklin is ranked No. 52 in the division and 12 among active American heavyweights by BoxRec.
Never heard of Jermaine Franklin? His BoxRec rating is already higher than Jarrell Miller's next opponent, Bogdan Dinu, as well as Amir Mansour, David Price and Junior Fa.
