Hasim Rahman, Jr returns Dec 8Written by Leroy Cleveland
Hasim Rahman Jr (6-0, 4 KO), son of the former lineal heavyweight champion bearing the same name, faces Kendrick Houston (1-3-1) at the Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland on December 8.
Next month's bout will serve as the 6'3" Rahman Jr's fourth of the year.
The 27 year old, hailing from Baltimore, MD, is looking to establish himself as one of the heavyweight division's young lions.
"There's something in the blood, there's something in my genes, there's something about me," the younger Rahman told Sky Sports in April.
"I cannot stay away from the sport, I love it."
"There's things that average fighters do, there's things that above average fighters do, and then there's things that champions do," said Hasim Jr who, along with his cruiserweight younger brother, is being guided by his father.
"He's doing his best to instil in me championship habits from the beginning, me and my brother Sharif. He's doing his best to prepare us for the championship level now."
"I'm no longer being introduced as someone's son. I'm starting to be introduced as an undefeated young heavyweight in the division that's hungry. I'm liking that.
Rahman turned pro in April 2017 and weighed 230 lbs for his most recent bout.
