Jarrell Miller vs Trevor Bryan on tap?Written by Leroy Cleveland
Heavyweight boxing fans might be in for a treat January 18.
Rumors abound that talks are progressing to stage Jarrell Miller vs Trevor Bryan on the 18th at Madison Square Garden.
Miller vs Bryan would air on DAZN.
The 300+ pound Miller (23-0-1, 20 KO) has surged the last 2 years to become arguably one of the top 10 heavyweights in the world, defeating the likes of Tomasz Adamek, Johann Duhaupas, Mariusz Wach and Gerald Washington.
Whereas the 30 year old Miller is ranked No 5 in the world by BoxRec, the 29 year old Bryan (20-0, 14 KO), the interim World Boxing Association World Heavyweight Champion, is rated No 36 by the same site. And how Trevor got a shot at that title, even though it's a trinket, tells us all we need to know about WBA 'Regular' titles. Yes, he defeated BJ Flores in August for the WBA's 'Regular' version of the heavyweight crown but, aside from a few journeyman, hasn't defeated anyone of note.
But Miller vs Bryan intrigues because both fellas are surging, young, undefeated heavyweights on the same path. This fight, should it happen, will tell us more about both guys.
How would Miller fair against a young, up-and-coming stallion?
Moreover, it'll be interesting to see how the 6'4" Bryan, who usually weighs between 225-230 poounds, will deal with Miller, who tipped the scale at 315 for his fight last month. Miller, of course, moves well for a 300 pounder and has good pop in his punch. Although he's aggressive, Jarrell seems to pick his shots well and is adept at throwing a wide variety of punches from angles.
